Vumba is our registered appaloosa stallion. With his bold splashy colour, there is no mistaking this striking boy. He amazes everyone with his gentle personality and kind nature and is a blessing to handle and ride.

​​Vumba’s markings are a result of him carrying one dominant LP gene, which forms the leopard spots on his coat. His spots with the lighter ring around them are called “peacock patterning” and are a rare finding in appaloosa horses. His base colour is smokey black, which forms when a horse carries a creme gene on a black base, so he can breed black, palomino, buckskin, perlino and cremello offspring.

He is the only registered appaloosa stallion in the country and was born in South Africa at the great Kondos Appaloosa Stud. His progeny on the ground carry his gentle personality and bold markings and we are so excited to see the foals this stunning horse produces with our lovely mares, and for an exciting competitive career ahead of him under saddle.

His sire was the South African National Champion as a two year old and the overall Reserve Junior Champion Colt of the South African Championships in 2015. He is one of the most significant contributing sires to Southern African bloodlines, with all 4 of the foundation sires in his pedigree.
